Communicating during emergency situations is important for any governmental body, including a municipal utility district. That’s why the Harris County MUD 278 has launched a new electronic notification service for when moments count. The new service will send text and email notifications to residents during severe rain events, service outages and when other MUD-related changes occur.
The new text and email notification system, known as an inTEN system, allows the District to communicate with residents. The new, state-of-the-art system allows the District, with the help of its communications team and water services operator, to send targeted messages to addresses affected by any outages or maintenance issues.
Residents that have provided their mobile phone numbers and email addresses will be automatically signed up for the new system. Residents who have not provided that information to the District or who move into the District after the system is launched may sign up for the service at the following link: district alerts
The District also understands that some residents may want to customize how they receive news alerts. To turn off notifications via email, residents can click on the “unsubscribe” link in the email notifications or reply “STOP” to the text messages they receive.
Upon signing up for alerts, residents should expect to receive the following message via text and email:
Welcome to the Harris Co. MUD 278 alert system. To unsubscribe, reply STOP. For more information, visit https://tsds.link/fN9wRn
